Facial Plastics Before Summer

As the days finally get longer again, it’s time to start thinking about putting your best face forward for summer events. Planning facial aesthetic treatments ahead of time can help you look refreshed and natural when it matters most.

The trick? Choosing the right timing and the right procedures. Sun exposure, travel and busy schedules can make it harder to fit in recovery time. Some treatments require limiting UV exposure afterward to protect and enhance results. By starting early, you also give potential swelling and bruising time to resolve and allow results to settle beautifully.

For patients wanting subtle refreshment with no downtime, injectables are the go-to. Botox and Xeomin can soften crow’s feet, frown lines and forehead creases. Results typically appear within a few days and peak around two weeks, making late spring an ideal treatment window for summer events.

Fillers can restore volume in the lips, cheeks, jawline and under eye area. While there may be minor swelling or bruising, most patients are camera ready quickly. When performed conservatively, filler should make you look like yourself, just more rested.

Another option is laser resurfacing to improve pigment, redness and fine lines. Because skin can be more sensitive to the sun afterward, earlier is better. Completing a series before peak sunshine exposure helps maintain results safely.

For more dramatic results, consider surgical procedures. Blepharoplasty can dramatically refresh the eyes by removing excess skin or addressing puffiness. Most visible bruising improves within a couple of weeks, but subtle swelling can take longer to fade. Scheduling surgery several months before major summer events allows you to enjoy your results without feeling rushed to recover.

If sagging brows or deeper facial descent are concerns, surgeries like an endoscopic brow lift may be best planned with ample healing time and flexibility in your calendar. For some patients, waiting until fall or winter is preferable, especially if they expect heavy sun exposure or frequent travel.

No matter what you choose, don’t seek treatment with only days or weeks to spare before a big trip or reunion. Even quick procedures can have temporary swelling, and everyone heals at a different pace. Starting earlier gives your surgeon room to tailor treatments and make refinements if needed.
